Staircase To The Moon’ in Broome

Broome is a bit of a spectacular place at any time of year, but there are some special events coming up over winter.

The Staircase to the Moon is a natural phenomenon which happens when the full moon rises over the exposed mudflats of Roebuck Bay at extremely low tide, creating an optical illusion of a staircase reaching for the moon.  So do check the phases of the moon before booking that holiday in Broome.

Check out the special ‘Staircase to the Moon’ offer from Broome and the Kimberley Holidays here.

And there’s also Broome’s Racing Carnival, which starts with a long weekend of racing and entertainment on the 31st of May and continues for nine weeks culminating with the excitement of the Broome Cup on the 16th of August.

Outrigger On The Lagoon in Fiji Upgrades Kids Club and Meimei Nanny Centre

One of the most popular kids clubs in Fiji (read my post about it here) has been upgraded. The $100,000 upgrade includes new decking so the kids can play under cover as well as interior decorating.  The resort itself is doing upgrades on rooms and bures.

clear-morning-flightFamily Holiday Bucket List Planning – African Safari

I would love to have an African safari holiday with my family one day. We have no date, or even year in mind… but I keep an eye open for interesting information.  Annabel Candy’s posts on Zimbabwe had my heart racing.

If we go one day, I’d love to do a combination of back packing and luxury. On the luxury end, I spotted these balloon safaris in South Africa.  I’ve checked out the website and am just making a little note here:  Bill Harrop’s “Original” Balloon Safaris look amazing.

  1. Hello Seana,

The African safari is my big family travel adventure dream. I love it and would so love to take my kids – it would blow their minds in a good way :)

Until then I might just enter to win a camper trailer!

  2. I can vouch for the Outrigger in Fiji, I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and they are really geared up well for families with care, and parents with everything else!

  3. What some lovely ideas Seanna, with or without kids, I reckon. An African safari would be wonderful at any time, and I can vouch for Staircase to the Moon – it\’s a spectacular phenomena. This side of the country, Bunbury is a neglected place that’s great for kids – the Dolphin Discovery Centre is a wonderful place, and they can meet dolphins up close in the shallow waters on the beach (under supervision). I wrote about it on ZigaZag.

  4. And I thought there couldn’t possibly be anything that would make me want to go to Broome more and then you tell me about a staircase to the moon. We are sooooo going there on our next interstate trip (yes, I have been saying that for many years, but it just cannot wait any more!)

  5. I love this idea Seana. What a great resource, particularly for a bargain hunter like me. Very inspiring to get me off my butt to do more travel.

  6. I LOVE this series Seana!! And I have my eye on the stairway to the moon – it looks gorgeous!! I’m lucky enough to have done many African safaris and they are amazing!! Xx
