Heavy Horses World Ploughing Record Attempt in Yass

On Sunday 4 May 2014, the Yass Antique Farm Machinery Club (YAFMC) will attempt to set a world record when they bring over 100 heavy horses together to plough a field. Named ‘Woo Back’ this will certainly be a fantastic event to watch, what animals are more appealing than huge working horses?

The weekend will offer spectators much more than the May 4 World Record attempt, with other heavy horse events including logging and harness displays, heavy horse measure, trade stands, food, a vintage tractor pull and antique engines on display.

Entry is $10 per person, free for children 15 and under, and a gold coin donation from pensioners. Free camping is available around the site.

    Hi Seana
I’m growing to love this Friday travel special on your blog.
Great tips and specials which are worth checking out. I love the idea of a Royal Easter Show package deal too. I must follow that up.
Thanks for featuring my ‘day trip to Kiama’ story. It is such a hidden gem and so close to Sydney. Who needs OS travel when we have cost effective and interesting things to do here? Well me actually, but anyway Kiama is just as pretty as the south of France, so why not?
    Have a great weekend.

Even though Australia is miles away from most places, we do have SO much to enjoy here… I’ll always love the experience of being overseas, like you, but will never tire of my own backyward… which is huge! Would love to be a grey nomad here one day, but that’s a LONG way off.

I love these Friday posts, have found some great ideas about what we can do on our next holidays…which I think is going to involve a few nights at Kiama!

Thank you Rebecca, much appreciated. I’m enjoying doing them… none of us can go to all these places but it’s fab to read about them and cherry pick ideas.

Hi Seana, Another fabulous mix of exciting ideas to do with kids (and with grown up kids too I think!) Thankx for including my Dolphin story from ZigaZag – yes, the WA dolphins are quite amenable when it comes to good spotting opportunities!

We see dolphins a fair bit down at Jervis Bay and it is a thrill every single time. Best is to see them close up when out on the water but it’s fab from the shore too. Amazing creatures.

  • Awesome ideas. You should perhaps make this a Friday linky!

Hi Bronnie, I am planning to add in a linky on a Friday too, not sure whther to do it in the same post or to make a separate post. There are some great blogs and some terrific travel stories on non-travel blogs too. In a couple of weeks….stand by!

  • That Kiama one looks fabulous as does the Easter Show deal – I ust wish they did more than 2 kids :) I took the boys into Milsons Point to watch Earth Hour and I had amped them up but the lights out was kind of disappointing as the city was still very brightly lit. Thanks for linking up with Bron and I for Weekend Rewind Seana xx

Glad to link up. I only do it when I know I have the time to look around other blogs. I’m polite like that! Caro has done another great travel post on Milton, she’s so good at finding the cool shops, which I’d never do by myself. Good to see all that pretty stuff on her posts.
