Going Down! The Scenic Cableway at Katoomba’s Scenic World

Scenic Cableway Scenic World Blue Mountains

Hang onto your hats, and your tummies too!

The Scenic Cableway at Scenic World is seriously steep, and although this is the last blog post in the Scenic World series, don’t think the ride is any less thrilling than the Scenic Railway or the Scenic Skyway.

AMBA NSW, The Carrington Hotel Katoomba, + Plans Going Awry

Well, the PLAN had been to write a good, long post about that grande old dame, the Carrington Hotel in Katoomba.

I stayed there last Friday night, as a guest of the NSW Branch of the Australian Multiple Birth Club, whose seminar was on the Saturday.  I gave a talk on ‘Autism Spectrum Disorder and Multiples’ because, yes, having twins, triplets etc is one of the risk factors for ASD.

Anyway, the PLAN was to drive up to Katoomba on Friday morning, finish the slides for the talk at leisure, swan around a few bookshops, have tea and scones and take heaps of photos of the hotel and learn all about it.

But like all good plans, this one had a fatal flaw.

It didn’t work

On The Road With A Jucy Campervan + The Kids

In search of a bit of pre-Christmas simplicity and to escape the maddening shopping crowds, we’re on a wee road trip.

And I see I’m not alone in that search for a bit of slowness at the moment. I read Mrs Woog’s and Sonia’s at Love, Life and Hiccups’s posts on simplicity yesterday and could so relate.

More Dangerous But Fun- Jumping off Moona Moona Creek Bridge

So this summer we’ve all been at it, leaping with gay abandon off this bridge into the creek below.

Is anything more fun in this entire universe?

Bridge jumping is an activity which has stood the test of time.

Even Rusty Rocket, aged all of five was flinging himself off good style.

With my wee waterproof camera in hand, I filmed people jumping and then took myself and the camera for a jump off the bridge.  Here are the results, Just A Minute Movies strikes again.

Next year we might even try the spectacular backflips you see about 40 seconds in.

Jervis Bay Family Fun- Boat Trip Around the Bay

As a briny old seadog from way back, I’m always over the moon to be out at sea.

The Intn’l Man of Mystery, however, gets shockingly seasick.  So the day he and Teen14 went to Sydney to see the cricket was the obvious one for myself and the three youngsters to get nautical.

We’ve done a couple of dolphin boat trips on Jervis Bay before, so this time I booked us onto a smaller, faster boat which would take us around the whole Bay in just a couple of hours.

An Irish Breakfast- at Harrigans Pub in The Hunter Valley

We do love a buffet breakfast.  And the twins were over the moon to try an Irish breakfast when we stayed at Harrigans Irish Pub in the Hunter Valley.

Me too. Mine is the plate of tomatoes, mushrooms, scrambled eggs and, yes, mince.   Very Irish.

The Twins Review – Harrigans Irish Pub + Acomodation

Oh happy days! I do just love getting away from home.  Love leaving and then adore getting back.

As a single young slapper I zoomed all over the place, most exotic perhaps was the scuba diving off Zanzibar.  Since I had the kids, I’ve found that a trip across town can be equally challenging.

These days, I’m starting to almost enjoy getting away with the kids in tow.  It’s becoming less sheer ardure and more of an adventure.  About time!

Here’s a photo and video mini-review of Harrigan’s Irish Pub and Accomodation.

This is where the twins and I stayed for the night when we went to see the Christmas Lights Spectacular at the Hunter Valley Gardens.

Here’s a twin-tastic minute of video, where their expert opinion is revealed.
