Apex Park Playground, Mona Vale – The Northern Beaches’ Best Playgrounds

Thumbnail image for Apex Park Playground, Mona Vale – The Northern Beaches’ Best Playgrounds

What a lovely spot on the Northern Beaches. If you love the trifecta of playground, beach and cafe, bookmark this spot.  Apex Park Playground is just across the road from the beach and surf club, and a lovely cafe called The Bronze Kiosk. The only drawback of this playground is that it isn’t fully fenced. [...]

Sydney’s Best Fenced Playgrounds – NORTH {Updated}

Thumbnail image for Sydney’s Best Fenced Playgrounds – NORTH   {Updated}

It was the search for the ideal fully fenced playground that set me off researching Sydney’s best places. I had a really wild, hyper boy-child who was a serial bolter.  I could run faster than him for the first couple of years. Then I was pregnant with number two son and it became just too [...]

The Flying Fox Playground at Winnererremy Bay Park, Mona Vale – Sydney’s Best Playgrounds

Thumbnail image for The Flying Fox Playground at Winnererremy Bay Park, Mona Vale – Sydney’s Best Playgrounds

How on earth do you pronounce “Winnererremy’?? For years, I’ve been putting that question in the too hard basket and arranging to meet friends at the Flying Fox playground at Mona Vale. The cafe next door is called The Flying Fox cafe, so let’s keep it simple.

 It’s not fair! I want a turn! For once it was me whinging rather than the twins. They loved their morning on the three children’s courses at Tree Tops Adventure Park at Plough and Harrow Park in Western Sydney Parklands.

My kids love this area for the great airport views. They can watch planes taking off and landing for hours. But there’s loads more here to enjoy, good playground and the biketrack and cafe making this a very family-friendly beach and baths.

Balmoral Beach Playground – Sydney’s Best Playgrounds

Thumbnail image for Balmoral Beach Playground – Sydney’s Best Playgrounds

A playground by the beach, how lovely. This small playground at Balmoral is in a fantastic area, just by the netted baths and very close to the cafe. Slurp! It’s also right on the sand at an area where the trees shade the beach, ideal for babies and small children.

Pyrmont Point Playground – Sydney’s Best Harbourside Playgrounds

Ah, this playground is sublime, right on the glittering blue harbour, great views. But a horror if you have a wild child who might leap into that glittering harbour. If you do, steer well clear, this playground will wait until your child has calmed down.

It’s been 10 years since our first visit to this lovely playground.  It was called Pimelea Playspace in those days, and was and is a terrific feature of the huge Western Sydney Parklands. This is a wonderful area for a big picnic, the facilities are really terrific. But the kids will also enjoy coming for [...]

Passmore Reserve Playground – Best Playgrounds in Sydney’s North

Thumbnail image for Passmore Reserve Playground – Best Playgrounds in Sydney’s North

One of our favourites for years, we love the bushy feel of this fully-enclosed playground. With lots of wooden play structures, and plenty of space for playing, it’s a playground where kids imaginations, as well as their little bodies, can run wild and free. Have gone a bit mad with the camera here, but I [...]

Rouse Hill Playground – Sydney’s Best Playgrounds

Thumbnail image for Rouse Hill Playground – Sydney’s Best Playgrounds

Love a maze in a playground, and there just aren’t enough of them! Here’s one we love in western Sydney. Now my kids are older, I don’t worry so much when they get lost. I visited and took these photos on a weekday in winter and there were very few people there. This isn’t usual, [...]

Darling Harbour Playground – The Largest and Best In Sydney’s Centre

Thumbnail image for Darling Harbour Playground – The Largest and Best In Sydney’s Centre

Oh yes, it’s a cracker. A vast, gigantic, enormous playground. Maybe even bigger than that. So many different areas to play on, some really challenging spaces for older children, lots for little ones too. It gets VERY busy at weekends, of course, which can be a challenge. And it’s not good at all if you [...]

Thumbnail image for O.H.Reid Reserve, Chatswood West – Sydney’s Best Playgrounds

We have some lovely friends who live near this park and so have visited it over many years. The playground has been revamped and much improved recently. It’s a terrific spot, just make sure you don’t lose wandering children in the bush!  {I did once or twice, but they found their way back.}

Having visited a couple of times recently, I am convinced again that Willoughby Park has one of the best playgrounds on the lower-ish part of the North Shore. Enjoy the very large area of actual fenced playground plus several other play and sports areas. See you there!
