Recovery from PND – Use Humour!

Post image for Recovery from PND – Use Humour!

This really made me hoot with laughter when a friend sent it to me…. it’s certainly true in this house.

When I was experiencing my worst depression, after the birth of my second son, I found it hard to smile, my face felt too stiff.

These days I am so grateful for a belly laugh, so glad that I can smile and who cares about the wrinkles revealed??!!

I use humour as a way to counteract stress and grumpiness, especial thanks to Billy Connolly and Eddie Izzard for their hilarious DVDs which have restored my sense of humour many times.

And I am always amused to get humourous pix sent by email – not so keen on the sugary, sentimental circular emails  but the sheerly hilarious will always be appreciated by me.

And here’s one of my favourite jokes:

Mummy, Mummy, Mummy! Why do I keep running round in circles?

Shut up!  Or I’ll nail your other food to the floor.

And another:

How many men does it take to wallpaper a room?

Depends on how thinly you slice them!

I’ve been chortling about both of them for about 20 years!

What makes you smile?  What brings out a great guffaw of laughter?

I find it’s always good if you can have a laugh at yourself too.

That is so true Trudi, great to laugh at myself… and usually lots of silly things done to laugh at. Today’s calamity was totally flooding the laundry when all I meant to do was soak a plant. Hah! Much mopping/washing later..

I love those funny photos and videos online, for example LOLcats, and song parodies. And many clever bloggers and tweeters make me laugh. My kids and pets make me laugh every day with their funny sayings and the silly things they do. And yes, I do laugh at myself occasionally!

Love that penguin poster – so true! When I was setting up my business (target market is working mums), a business coach asked me what my service guarantee was. I replied it would be a place where Mums can FINISH a cup of hot coffee AND go to the toilet by themselves. The business coach told me that wasn’t a good enough guarantee…….bye bye business coach! HI from the Fibro.
