Rouse Hill Playground – Sydney’s Best Playgrounds

Love a maze in a playground, and there just aren’t enough of them!

Here’s one we love in western Sydney.

Now my kids are older, I don’t worry so much when they get lost.

I visited and took these photos on a weekday in winter and there were very few people there. This isn’t usual, it can get very busy here especially at the weekends!

Rouse Hill Regional Park Playground

Open: The park is open daily 8am–5pm

An excellent playground and one that attracts families from far and wide. Beside the large enclosed playground is a wooden maze, a big kids’ playground, a rope bridge, a very long flying fox and a bike track, plus a picnic and barbecue area.

The under fives’ natural habitat is the enclosed playground, which has several play areas linked by smooth walkways.

The junior area has cubbyhouses, a spring rocker, car structure and other toys. Rubber softfall makes it good for crawlers.

Weary adults can sit on the low wall, marvelling at the boundless energy of the kids.

Also in the enclosed playground are swings, a small bike track, picnic tables and barbecue and a dry creek, all landscaped with rocks and trees to create a very natural play environment. The wooden bridge structure that crosses the fence has slides on both sides.

The wooden maze on the other side is pretty large, a good place to lose the children for a while.

The older kids’ playground is for the over tens only. It has some wild and wacky equipment and attracts adults as much as children and teenagers. It’s not unusual to see parents shrieking with laughter as they use it, while the kids look on in bemusement.

Enclosed: Yes, except for the bridge over the bike track, which is a route to the maze and freedom

Mum’s report: A great place for the family plus bikes  to spend the day. The only issue is that it is so good that it can get very crowded. If the picnic and barbecue areas by the playground are too busy, there are several others throughout the park.

Extra: Two short walking tracks within the park that are good for strollers. Rouse Hill House and Farm is close by, you can take tours and experience life on the farm, see www.hht.net.au
