The Playground At Taronga Western Plains Zoo – What a Cracker

Playground at Dubbo Western Plains Zoo

Call me old-fashioned. Call me the mother of three boys. Call me whatever you like!

I know mothers often write about feeling brain dead at the playground… but not me.

I love a good playground! My kids wear themselves out and I’m grateful. Sometimes I have a slide and a swing myself.

I’ve written about heaps of great playgrounds in Sydney (see my 50 Best Sydney Playgrounds post here), about the fab Speers Point playground in Newcastle too.

But it was in Dubbo that two playgrounds most recently knocked the socks of myself and my twin terrors.

Mr and Ms7 had such a ball at the playground at Dubbo’ Western Plains Zoo that I felt it deserved a slideshow of its very own.

First slideshow on the blog too, wish me luck!

  • Looking from the zoo side over the whole playground
  • Heaps of green grass and the huge flying fox
  • A cubby house and a wobbly bridge - great combo
  • My wee lass on the flying fox
  • Rhino sculptures for clambering all over
  • And a lioness and baby lion sculpture too
  • Do not mess with the passing black swans!
  • Rusty Rocket and lemur brave a rocky bridge
  • And play for hours on the swathes of grass
  • Ms 7 in the bushy part of the playground

Hope this gives you a flavour of how good this playground is and what an asset to the Zoo. Delightfully, the playground is free for anyone at all to use, a boon for Dubbo families, I bet.

We had a great night staying at Billabong Camp at the Zoo, all info here.

Happy playing!

Thanks Annabel, I’m delighted with myself for learning how to put that together. It’s not too tricky and I think will work well in all sorts of posts. Always stuff to learn.
